Helping families affected by the earthquake

A powerful earthquake shook the early morning hours of November 26, 2019, Albania. The 6.4 magnitude oscillations in the epicenter or intensity of 8 braces, unfortunately, claimed several lives and injured over 650 in Durres, Thuman, Tirana, Fushe-Krujë, Kurbin. Heavy footage, rubble, and flooding were the images that saw every Albanian. Shakes were felt all over the country, even in Pristina. Near the epicenter of the Adriatic Sea, the damage is even greater. Many people remain under the ruins of collapsed palaces, the dossiers were taken out, and some others could not survive.

The Way of Peace church, with its readiness to help earthquake-affected people, offered first aid in clothing, blankets, and quilts. Believers from the church also offered food aid, some of them donated money as well. The Way of Peace Church in collaboration with other churches formed the group Emergency Assembly 2019 to collaborate on the state of emergency that was announced in the country, affecting several families in the Lushnja area. The aim of all churches in Lushnje was to respond to the emergency situation with the priority of our area and community. One of the collaborations was with the municipality of Lushnje sending us the list of families affected by the earthquake. The emergency fund was also set up to meet many needs.

Throughout December, churches in Lushnje have held joint meetings, prayer meetings, and offerings, interceding with the Lord in prayer and remorse for the situation in the country. Also, the whole December offers from different churches in Lushnje are donated to the Emergency Fund for use in different needs. A food aid truck has been launched from Italy to help earthquake victims. One sister from Germany, two sisters from Italy, one sister from Kavaja donated euros, Foodbank helped with food packages, Alo Mik donated beds, mattresses, kitchen utensils, baby food was provided through VUSH contacts. Olso help from VUSH- sent: 164 sleeping bags; 25 mattresses; 52 blankets; 142 bags with clothing, home remedies, and toiletries.

The Dervishi family from Shijak took refuge in the premises of the Nazareth church in Gorre. Their home was declared uninhabited by experts welcomed with love and special care was shown for this family. The family has been visited by Emergency 2019 members, discussed the current state of this family, and we prayed for them all together. They are assisted with clothes, clothing, and weekly meals necessary for the progress of their provisional accommodation in Gorre.

All assistance collected is organized as needed and distributed to families in need. Assistance has gone to various places, such as Saver, Lushnje, Gorre, Krutje, Dushk, Thanasaj, Thuman, Fiershegan. Two containers were also provided, one for the Soze Xhumari family in Sarave, Lushnja, where the house was uninhabited, and the other one was donated to the family in Manze, close to Lalzi Bay where the whole family lived in a plastic cage with their son. a wooden foot. This family has been given beds, mattresses, quilts, clothes, food. In addition to the families affected by the earthquake, 100 poor families with food packages have also been helped.
